Minister for Communities’ Loop Upcycling Warehouse Visit

A recent visit from a WA minister to Loop Upcycling’s warehouse highlighted the increasing interest in the role social enterprises are playing in shaping Western Australia’s future.

Our WASEC CEO Olivia Chapman joined Loop Upcycling CEO Franco Randazzo to welcome Minister for Communities Jessica Stojkovski MLA onsite at Loop’s warehouse, allowing a firsthand look for the Minister at how purpose-driven business can deliver real outcomes for people, communities and the environment.

During the visit, the Minister met with migrant participants involved in Loop’s employment program, hearing directly about their experiences and pathways into meaningful work.

She toured the warehouse floor, and took a look at redundant corporate textiles being sorted, redesigned and transformed into high-quality, locally made products. At Loop Upcycling, what might otherwise end up as landfill is instead being repurposed into something valuable, supporting jobs while keeping materials circulating within Western Australia’s economy. This is circular economy in action!

By diverting textile waste and turning it into new products, Loop is helping organisations reduce their environmental footprint while creating inclusive employment opportunities. It’s a model that delivers across multiple priorities at once: reducing waste, strengthening local supply chains and creating pathways into work for people who face barriers to employment.

We were proud to showcase this work and highlight how social enterprises like Loop are helping build a more inclusive, sustainable and resilient Western Australia.

Visits like this provide our influential decision-makers a practical demonstration of how social enterprises operate day-to-day.

We hope that we reinforced with the Minister that WA social enterprise is not just an “idea”. Seeing participants at work, understanding the production process, and hearing stories firsthand brings to life the tangible impact these businesses are having across the state.
