As part of WASEC’s Social Impact Incubator we hosted an exclusive session for our participants focused on Proving and Sharing Impact – Measuring what matters and telling your story confidently. We were thrilled to be joined by guest facilitator Georgina Camp, founder and CEO of Huber Social.
Georgina’s journey from international law and the military to co-founding Huber Social shows her commitment to placing human wellbeing at the centre of progress. Huber Social helped develop the new Standards Australia handbook on Measuring and Valuing Social Impact, which takes a scientific approach to understanding impact.
She reminded us that measurement must be carried out with scientific, cultural and ethical integrity. When it isn’t done well, it can reinforce the norm or enable harm to continue. The theory of change is your scientific hypothesis and through measurement, you set up the conditions to test it.
“Science is a journey not a destination. We don’t ‘prove’ anything in science we work with probabilities and not certainties. We need to continue to question, test and update.”
A really thought-provoking session that brought both humanity and rigour to how we approach social impact measurement.
